The Community News in English Association is now hard at work raising funds for GenevaLunch.com, the main source of locally-produced online news and information in English for the international population in the Lake Geneva region. Check it out!
We are looking for funds mainly to pay staff, who until 2011 have worked on a volunteer basis, building the news site into a powerful tool for the community, with visitors viewing more than 100,000 pages a month.
We’ve just opened a donations page on the site, we are in advanced discussions with potential sponsors and we continue to sell advertising.
In a world where large corporate media still control the flow of most news despite their shrinking global staff, offset by the often excellent but not always reliable pulsing of social media, the need for independent local media has grown, not diminished.
